Description

Mexican Hat is the common name for this wildflower with a dark red and yellow bloom; Prairie Coneflower is the common name for the solid yellow bloom. Our Ratibida columnaris is a mixture of both. This perennial grows one to three feet in height and blooms from April to July and with a soaking or two, it will bloom on till frost. It will grow in sand, loam, clay, caliche, and limestone if well-drained. It likes full sun to part shade. We have seen Mexican Hats blooming in full shade.
