Description
This perennial grows 1 to 3 feet in height and blooms June to July. Being in
the legume family, there are nitrogen fixing bacteria which cluster on the
roots of this plant, and therefore it helps to enrich the soil. Purple prairie
clover can be found in the sandy soils of prairies, plains and mountain
slopes. Purple Prairie Clover is a larval food for the Dogface Butterfly.
