Your guess is as good as ours, how such a pretty flower got such an unpleasant name. Perhaps because of its sticky sap... or maybe somebody tried to eat it and it made them sick! If you just plant it and admire it when it blooms though, we think you'll agree with us that this easy-to-grow annual is one of the most beautiful wildflowers around. In a garden setting, Clammyweed will usually bloom for you into the fall. Give it a soaking if the weather turns very dry, and keep the dead flowers cut back.
