Mealy Blue Sage
Salvia farinacea
This beautiful native plant is very drought tolerant. It is a dependable bloomer even in times of drought or on shallow, poor soils. Aromatic scent protects this plant from deer. This salvia has been used as a healing plant and the leaves make a refreshing tea.
We found this praying mantis looking strait at the camera (above). I learned afterwards they have amazing flexible heads that can turn up to 300 degrees without moving their body allowing for great range of vision! Insects such as grasshoppers are primary diet of mantises.
