This high quality native cool season pasture grass is found in the western regions of the United States. It is an excellent grass for erosion control with a dense, fibrous root system and can tolerate salty soil conditions making it a great choice for revegetating areas with challenging soils. In its native range from the great plains through the west, western wheatgrass typically grows from 1 to 3 feet tall with as little as 12 inches of rainfall. It is highly palatable to both wildlife and livestock, making it a highly desirable species for cool season forage.
