Attractive flowers and an unusual form make Spotted Beebalm worthy of inclusion in any native wildflower planting, not to mention that it is easily propagated from seed. The light yellowish-white flower is spotted with purple. Tubular and two lipped, it has a gaping mouth with two stamens arching downward from below the narrow upper lip, somewhat resembling a snake with its mouth open. On dewy mornings, it is beautiful in masses. It is not grazed by cattle or browsed by wildlife and often forms extensive stands. Thanks to Bill Freiheit for sharing photos of Spotted Beebalm.
